Hello, my name is Emily and I hate wearing coats. Anyone else feel this way? Maybe it’s my south Georgia roots, but I am just not a fan of wearing a winter coat.

Happy weekend!!! I’ve got quite the insane weekend ahead of me. A sleepover tonight with one of my best friends and her baby, who is really not a baby anymore, she’s 2, but still. Then tomorrow I’ve got lunch at a new spot [make sure you’re following me on Instagram to see more of that tomorrow!], a bunch of errands and then out tomorrow night for a friends birthday. Sunday is church in the am, and TONS of cleaning/laundry in the afternoon. And oh yeah, I need to find some time to run. Pray for me.
What I’d like to discuss with you today is my hatred for coats. Alright, hate is strong word, but I just really dislike wearing them. And it’s not so much the wearing them that I don’t enjoy, it’s what to do with them whenever I get inside and it gets warm. So maybe what I really don’t like is the keeping up with the coat thing. I love the way they look, but if I can get away with not wearing one, I will.
Enter the chambray shirt. I love to wear mine solo, but I’ve found it is a great layering piece for sweaters that are more lightweight or have holes, like this one. And something I’ve kept from my J.Crew days is the love of a popped collar. I just LOVE IT. I seriously can’t wear a collar folded down, and if you look in my closet all the collars are popped, just ready for me to rock. I think it gives that ‘styled’ umph instead of reminding me of the uniform shirts I used to wear in high school.
Another thing I’m obsessing over is Kendra Scott’s new spring collection. These earrings are the most lightweight earrings I’ve ever worn from KS, and the color could not be more fun! A perfect transition to spring piece while we are still bogged down in layers and those dreaded coats.
