Budget Buy: Teddy Coat

Y’all should know this by now, but I love a good deal. I’m all about the most bang for your buck, which is why every piece of clothing I’m wearing in this look was purchased on sale [except the sunnies, thx Santa].

Happy Sunday y’all. My weekend was relatively chill, spent all day today cleaning, ironing and cooking for the week which is probably the most adulting thing I could possibly say. I wanna chat a little bit about my shopping strategy. If we’re friends on Facebook there’s a pretty good chance you saw my live tv debut last week where I chatted about building a capsule wardrobe of staple pieces + how important it is to invest in classic pieces [see video here].

And while I am all about investing in classic pieces, there is something to be said about finding something on sale, or buying an inexpensive trendy piece. That is exactly what trendy pieces should be in your wardrobe, save your real dollars for denim, great fitting tops and dresses and leave the trendy pieces to the sale rack or places like Forever 21, H&M etc.

This coat is a budget buy I grabbed for NYE that I am completely obsessed with and shocked to say came from Charlotte Russe. I’ve got to say, their coat game is on point right now + they are almost always at least 25-30% off [like right now!].

So to recap, invest in those staple items you know you’re gonna wear over and over again [i.e. denim, a crisp white button down, leather jackets etc.] and make a separate budget for trendy pieces and give yourself a cap on how much you’ll spend on those. My limit is typically around $30, unless Zara or Anthro does something I can’t deny.

Do y’all have a budget for your trendy pieces??

Can’t believe that coat is from Charlotte Russe. I got a kimono over the summer from there that I love, but I don’t normally ever shop there!
