I can’t lie, I was kind of shocked at how simple this outfit is, and how much I love it. Y’all know me by now, I love prints, bright colors & the more leopard print the better. I guess sometimes less really is more.
Last weekend was one of those weekends where my age is really starting to show. I was completely content with spending most of my time alone, with a good glass of wine & lots of bad tv. My Saturday was spent at the mall, one of my favorite solo activities & I came home to a closet full of sweaters. I decided to do some major spring cleaning, swapping out my sweaters, boots and turtlenecks for neon colors, all of the dresses & sandals.
While I was going through my closet, I decided to be a little bit cutthroat about what I was keeping & what was going to be sold or donated. If I couldn’t remember the last time I wore it, or it was just not doing it for me at that moment, I tossed it in what ended up being a giant pile. The problem I find is that I can pick out cute clothes, that’s not the problem, but keeping them just because they are cute & not because I actually wear them is why my closet becomes unmanageable.
With my recent purge, I’ve decided to finally adopt the whole ‘less is more’ mentality. Maybe it’s because I am getting older, or the fact that Forever 21 disappoints me way more than it excites me these days (although I do recommend shopping online or going first thing in the morning before it turns into a hot mess), but I feel like investing a little bit more than normal in your wardrobe staples will make you actually want to wear them. While I love a good $20 top, after a while it loses its sparkle.
The things I feel okay about investing in you ask? Well I’ll tell you ladies, only because I love you. Bags, shoes, jeans, non-trendy jewelry & jackets.
