Cookie Swap

When I was asked to be a part of this super yummy series, these cookies were the first things to pop in my head. I am not the biggest dessert gal, which is so good for my waistline (lets be real), but sometimes a staple is the best. Everyone feels like they make the best chocolate chip cookies, but when I say these are the best….I can’t even! Here’s the recipe before I give y’all the backstory!


Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies —


1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar

3/4 Crisco Baking Stick

2 Tablespoons Milk

1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract

1 Egg

1 3/4 All Purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Salt

3/4 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Step 1: Heat oven to 375. Beat brown sugar, Crisco, milk & vanilla in large bowl on medium speed with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Then add egg and beat.

Step 2: Combine flour, salt and baking soda. (separate from what you just mixed) Mix in mixture from step 1 until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough on an ungreased baking sheet.

**Insider trick from mom — once dough is completely mixed, ┬áput bowl in fridge for like 10-15 mins before actually cooking. Not really sure what it does, but it’s magic!**

Step 3: Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool for 2 mins.

Recipe makes 3 dozen cookies!







So, ever since I can remember these cookies have been my mom’s staple. Every holiday, school party, event…these delectable yummies were always on the list of must-haves. We always thought they were some secret recipe….little did we know, and what we found out many years later, it is literally the cookie recipe that comes when you buy the pack of Crisco butter. #MyMomsAFaker

Even still, many have tried and no one does it quite like my mom. Even me with my first go around at making them for this post. Let’s just say, there was one major ingredient (cough, cough, the CRISCO, cough cough) almost left out, so I had a minor panic attack, threw the butter in the microwave to melt it and poured it right over the dough that already had the chips in it. Hi, chips started to melt so I ended up making marbled, kinda dry but kinda moist cookies for my Thanksgiving potluck work party. (Sorry guys!!) But when I went home, my mom was a gem and made a new batch (which is what you see here!) #ImAFakerLikeHer
