How To: Do Neutrals

DSC_5014

One thing I love about this crazy “spring” weather we are currently having is that I can break out my spring sweaters. I refuse to go back to the darker colors, it’s April for goodness sake! So bring on the white, and this lace-up sweater is pure perfection from Boho Bus. I knew the moment I spotted it, it was the perfect spring/summer sweater. I’m looking forward to rocking it with some cutoff denim shorts for a happy hour sesh on a porch or an evening baseball game.

Another thing I love…..neutrals. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, “Emily you literally love color and mixing patterns like it’s your job so what in the world are you talking about.” And while that may be true, I love me some color, lately I have been gravitating towards more simple looks in my daily life. A white on white look for me is always a classic, and paired with the knock off version of the “it shoes” for spring and a perfectly neutral crossbody I have to say, I’m obsessed.

While a neutral look looks to be easy and breezy, I have found creating the look is a little bit more difficult. My tip for creating that monochromatic look is to not be too caught up in having the colors match completely. Especially if you purchase the items separately. I think having a little bit of a difference creates some texture and visual interest from an otherwise very solid look.

How do you love working the neutral trend?
